After losing four starters (LaMarcus Aldridge, Wesley Matthews, Nicolas Batum, and Robin Lopez) over the summer, it was reasonable to expect some sort of drop-off in the standings by the Portland Trail Blazers this season.

They were a 51-win team in 2014-15, earning the Northwest Division title for the first time since 1998-99. Management replaced several key members of the rotation with young, upstart talents, including Al Farouq-Aminu, Ed Davis, and Noah Vonleh. Success was anything but a guarantee.

Projected by many to be a bottom-feeder in the Western Conference, the Trail Blazers find themselves holding down a playoff spot with a 33-31 record, with their backcourt of Damian Lillard and Most Improved Player candidate C.J. McCollum leading the troops on the hardwood.

As a reminder of just how far the team has come in the face of such adversity, the team released a commercial entitled "Never Doubt Rip City," mixing in some of Portland's biggest plays with audio of those who were openly skeptical of the team, and how their opinions have changed over the past few months.
