Elton Brand makes season debut for shorthanded 76ers

Apparently it's Retro Night for the whole Philadelphia 76ers organization.

Not long after Baron Davis threw down a fast-break dunk and drained a 35-footer in his debut with the Sixers' D-League affiliate in Delaware, Elton Brand checked in for the NBA club for first time this season.

Playing without their starting frontcourt of Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor and trailing by double-digits, the Sixers inserted Brand in the second quarter against the Miami Heat.

The two-time All-Star - who will turn 37 in a week and hadn't appeared in a game in nine months - was understandably a bit sluggish to start, but he settled in quickly. After picking up a loose-ball foul on his first possession, Brand came up with two solid challenges at the rim, hit two mid-range jumpers and two free throws, and hauled in three rebounds in a gritty eight-minute stint.
