Cavs' Williams out at least 2 games to undergo knee treatment

CLEVELAND - Cavaliers guard Mo Williams will miss at least the next two games so he can receive medical treatment on his injured left knee.

The Cavs said Thursday that Williams did not accompany Cleveland on its road trip for games at Toronto on Friday and Washington on Sunday.

Williams has been bothered by soreness in his knee for the past two months. Earlier this week he visited renowned orthopedist Dr. James Andrews, who diagnosed him with having worn cartilage under his kneecap and prescribed additional treatments.

Williams has received injections in the knee but has continued to have problems.

The Cavs re-signed the 33-year-old Williams as a free agent during the summer, giving them a dependable backup for Kyrie Irving. Williams began the season in the starting lineup while Irving worked his way back from knee surgery.
