Hawks' Splitter considering surgery for injured hip

Jason Getz / USA TODAY Sports

Tiago Splitter will miss his sixth consecutive game Wednesday night due to a right hip injury, and with a nine-day All-Star break to follow, the Atlanta Hawks backup center is considering any and all options.

Splitter has received a second medical opinion and multiple possible avenues of treatment, including surgery, according to Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"We are still gathering the information and trying to figure out the best course of action," Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said Wednesday.

Splitter - who was acquired from the San Antonio Spurs in a trade this past summer - also missed seven games earlier this season with the hip injury. He's averaging 5.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 16.1 minutes per game, all five-year lows for the 31-year-old Brazilian pivot.
