Report: Magic fielding offers for Channing Frye

On New Year's Day, the Orlando Magic sat three games back of the East-leading Cleveland Cavaliers, and looked poised to make a run at their first postseason appearance since 2012.

Fast-forward a month, and the Magic rank 12th in the Eastern Conference after a tumultuous January, leading the team to consider turning into a seller at the Feb. 18 trade deadline.

The Magic have already fielded multiple inquiries for center Channing Frye, according to Sean Deveney of Sporting News.

Ousted from the starting lineup, Frye has seen his role diminish significantly over the last few weeks, even picking up a DNP-CD in the Magic's latest contest.

While his future looks bleak with Orlando, Frye could still become an important piece for a contending team. He's shooting 41.4 percent from beyond the arc, good for 15th in the NBA.

At 21-25, the Magic have opted to increase sophomore forward Aaron Gordon's role, as they'll likely finish the 2015-16 season with an eye to the future. Gordon is currently in the midst of one of the best stretches of his career, averaging 9.7 points and 7.4 rebounds while shooting 52.6 percent from the floor in January.

With two years and $15.2 million left after this season, Frye's contract isn't a bargain, but it's not outlandish given the NBA's growing affection for 3-point shooting.
