Tyronn Lue: Love, Irving should focus less on their brands, more on winning

With the recent struggles of some of his players, newly hired Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue wants his team to focus less on themselves and more on winning.

"With our young stars, with Kyrie (Irving) and Kevin (Love), they're young, so it's still about their brand and different things, it's just way different," Lue told Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com.

Irving, 23, and Love, 27, have been immersed in losing throughout their NBA careers, with last year's squad representing the first winning team either had been part of. Their lack of postseason success hasn't appeared to deter sponsors, however, as both have already banked millions in endorsement deals.

"I talked to our team about, 'if you win, everybody's brand is better,'" Lue said. "If you win as a unit, everybody gets credit for it. Just trying to keep instilling that in our guys because, you know, we still have a young group of guys. Just gotta keep instilling that message. If we win, everybody's taken care of, so that's the message."

While the Cavaliers cruised past the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night, Irving and Love struggled offensively, shooting just 12-of-29 from the field for a combined 28 points. However, despite their recent difficulties, Irving is adamant they're solely focused on winning.

"Me and Kev will do a great job with adjusting to it, but our brands are the last thing we're worried about," he said.
