New Orleans Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans won't return in Wednesday night's matchup against the Sacramento Kings, the team announced.

Evans injured his right knee, which is the same one that forced him to miss the first 17 games of the season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery.

The former Memphis Tiger was playing his best stretch of basketball prior to the injury, posting more than 20 points in each of his last three contests.

He's averaging 16.7 points, 6.9 assists, and six rebounds.

Evans said following the Pelicans' 109-97 win that he expect to play in New Orleans' next game.
