Cavaliers' Irving after OT dagger: 'I live for those moments'

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

In a back and forth game that saw multiple lead changes in overtime, Kyrie Irving was the eventual hero Tuesday in the Cleveland Cavaliers' 110-107 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

With just 15 seconds left in the extra frame, Irving hoisted a 3-pointer from about five feet beyond the arc, nailing the long bomb to put the Cavaliers up four.

"I live for those moments and have confidence in my ability to hit that shot" Irving said to WOIO's Fred McLeod following the win.

The Duke alumnus isn't the only Cavalier who had faith in clutch shooting ability, as LeBron James also praised Irving.

"I just read the play and have the confidence in Kyrie to hit the shot."

Irving finished with 22 points and nine assists in what turned into one of his most impressive games this season.

After missing the first 24 games recovering from a broken knee cap, Irving initially struggled to return to his All-Star form. The 23-year-old shot just 33.8 percent in his first five contests, but has been terrific since, and is a large part of Cleveland's eight-game winning streak.
