Nuggets' Gallinari, Nurkic likely to play Saturday vs. Warriors

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Nuggets could have a major boost to their frontcourt when they face the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night.

Danilo Gallinari and Jusuf Nurkic are both likely to play, according to Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post.

Gallinari has missed the last six games for Denver with a sprained ankle, with the Nuggets managing just one win in his absence. The 6-foot-10 Italian is averaging career highs in points (17.3), rebounds (5.9), and assists (2.8) this season.

Saturday would be Nurkic's first game of the season after undergoing knee surgery in the offseason. The 21-year-old was promising as a rookie in 2014-15, averaging 6.9 points and 6.2 rebounds in just 17.8 minutes - numbers strong enough to earn him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie second team.

Despite their unimpressive record (12-21), the Nuggets sit just three games back of a playoff spot in the Western Conference. Loser of four straight, Denver will attempt to end its funk at Oracle Arena.
