Jazz's Burks suffers ankle injury, concussion in loss to Clippers

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Utah's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday may have been a costly one, as Jazz shooting guard Alec Burks left the contest with concussion-like symptoms and a potentially serious left ankle sprain.

Burks, who did not return to the game, was sporting a walking boot following the game.

The play occurred with less than a minute remaining in the second quarter, when Burks drove past J.J. Redick toward the rim. Jumping for the layup, he was met in mid-air by Paul Pierce - who fouled the 24-year-old wing - and tumbled to the floor.

Burks appeared to hit his head on the floor upon impact, while his left leg seemed to have folded awkwardly.

The Colorado alumnus missed all but 27 games in 2014-15 due to a season-ending shoulder injury.

He is averaging 14.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 27 games this season.
