Curry responds to Jackson's critique: 'If you can shoot, shoot'

Former Golden State Warriors head coach and current ABC analyst Mark Jackson stirred the pot on Christmas Day with some controversial comments concerning reigning league MVP Stephen Curry.

"To a degree, he's hurt the game," Jackson said during ABC's Warriors-Cleveland Cavaliers telecast. "And what I mean by that is I go into these high school gyms, I watch these kids and the first thing they do is run to the 3-point line. You are not Steph Curry. Work on your other aspects of the game. People don't think that he's just a knock-down shooter. That's not why he's the MVP. He's a complete basketball player."

Curry, who had just finished pouring in 19 points in a 89-83 win over the Cavaliers, laughed when made aware of Jackson's comments, although he wasn't sure why he'd make them at all.

"I have to talk to him," Curry told Yahoo Sports' Marc Spears. "I don't know what he means by that. If you can shoot, shoot. If you can't, stop."

Aussie big man Andrew Bogut didn't take kindly to Jackson's remarks in the slightest.

"Anything he says, you can take that with a grain of salt," Bogut said. "And you can quote me on that."

"The Chef" currently leads the league in scoring with 30.8 points per game. He's also well ahead in total 3-pointers attempted with 301, converting a staggering 44.5 percent.

"It's good for kids to think they can be Steph because it gives them realistic hope," Draymond Green said of Curry, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs roughly 185 pounds.
