Bucks' Bayless, Vasquez not traveling with team for 4-game road trip

The Milwaukee Bucks will remain significantly undermanned at the point guard position when they head out west this week.

Head coach Jason Kidd said Monday that Jerryd Bayless and Greivis Vasquez - both of whom are dealing with left ankle sprains - will stay home as the team embarks on a four-game trip, according to beat writer Andrew Gruman.

The West Coast swing includes stops in Los Angeles, Golden State, and Phoenix. Either player could conceivably join the team mid-trip, though that appears unlikely.

Vasquez has missed the Bucks' last nine games, while Bayless has missed the last five. The Bucks have compensated by deploying traditional shooting guard O.J. Mayo at the point and playing Michael Carter-Williams heavy minutes off the bench.

That look has propelled them to a 3-2 record since Bayless went down, including Saturday's thrilling victory over the theretofore undefeated Warriors.

Vasquez has struggled in his first season as a Buck, shooting just 34.2 percent from the field and 24.5 percent from 3-point range. Bayless, though, has been a productive contributor, averaging 11.7 points and 3.7 assists while shooting 43.6 percent from deep.
