Masai Ujiri says key to beating Warriors is to "pray to God"

After starting the season an NBA record 20-0, there isn't much opposing teams haven't already tried in an attempt to stop the Golden State Warriors.

However, Toronto Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri has a unique plan for how his team will try to beat the defending champs.

"Pray to God," Ujiri said on The Jim Rome Show on Friday afternoon.

It sounds like a good strategy, but maybe Ujiri is underestimating Toronto's chances. The Raptors are one of just three teams that have lost to the Warriors by five points or less this season and already have signature wins against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers.

At 12-8, they currently sit fifth in the Eastern Conference, despite playing just seven home games. That record would be good for third in the West, ahead of teams like the Thunder, Memphis Grizzlies, and Dallas Mavericks.

Despite all that, the Warriors will still be a huge test for Toronto. With a net differential of plus-15.4, they are over five points better than the next closest team, the San Antonio Spurs. They sit first in the offensive efficiency and fifth in defensive efficiency, while also leading the league in assists, effective field-goal percentage, and true shooting percentage.

If Toronto does manage to win Saturday night, count on Ujiri thanking the Lord in his postgame prayers.
