The play started out with so much promise.
As Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor blocked Dallas Mavericks shooting guard Wesley Matthews on Monday, the 6-foot-11 big man initiated the fast break, his teammates running the floor with him.
Then, in a confused state not uncommon among inexperienced young players, the No. 3 pick in the 2015 draft threw the ball off the back of point guard Isaiah Canaan.
The ball bounced out of bounds and ended a prime scoring opportunity in a moment representative of the Sixers' rough 0-10 start to the 2015-16 season.
