Chris Paul out again as Clippers host Pistons; 'in limbo' with groin injury

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Clippers will be without Chris Paul for the second straight game Saturday when they host the Detroit Pistons.

Paul is dealing with a groin strain he suffered Nov. 4 against the Golden State Warriors. With Saturday's absence, he will have sat out three of the Clippers' last five contests.

Paul's starting backcourt mate, J.J. Redick, is also out for the second straight game with back spasms, something Clippers coach Doc Rivers didn't sound too optimistic about Wednesday. On Saturday, he didn't have much to add on the condition of Redick or Paul.

The Clippers have lost four of their last five contests after beginning the season 4-0. The team started a backcourt of Pablo Prigioni and Austin Rivers in Thursday's 14-point loss to the Dallas Mavericks, but will go with Rivers and Jamal Crawford there Saturday. Paul Pierce slides into the starting lineup at small forward.
