Kings' Rondo records 3rd triple-double in 4 games

Sacramento Kings point guard Rajon Rondo is back to being the triple-double machine he was in his prime days with the Boston Celtics.

The 29-year-old notched his third triple-double in four games Friday night in a 111-109 win over the Brooklyn Nets at Sleep Train Arena.

Rondo finished the game with 23 points on 10-of-19 shooting in 43 minutes of action. He also grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out 14 assists.

The franchise record for the most triple-doubles in a season since the team moved to Sacramento is five, by Chris Webber in 1999-2000 - a record Rondo is well on his way to beating.

Rondo's Triple-Double Run

Date Opponent Minutes Points Rebounds Assists
11/7/2015 Warriors 44 14 12 15
11/11/2015 Pistons 48 14 11 15
11/13/2015 Nets 43 23 10 14

The Kentucky alumnus had only three all of last season, in 68 games split between the Celtics and Dallas Mavericks, tying him with Michael Carter-Williams, and Evan Turner for third overall.

Through his first 10 games for the 3-7 Kings, Rondo is averaging 13.1 points, 9.1 assists, and 7.1 rebounds, as he takes advantage of a point guard position devoid of the services of Darren Collison, who remains on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Sacramento will hit the floor next on Sunday night when they play host to the visiting Toronto Raptors.
