Blake Griffin ejected after picking up 2nd tech for complaining

Los Angeles Clippers power forward Blake Griffin was ejected from Thursday's game with the Phoenix Suns.

Griffin picked up his second technical after complaining to the official over a missed call in the paint with 2:35 left in the second quarter. He picked up his first technical five minutes earlier after bumping chests with Suns forward Mirza Teletovic.

The Suns immediately went on a 9-1 run to finish off the first half following Griffin's ejection.

The Clippers were already short two starters in Chris Paul and J.J. Redick. Paul is nursing a nagging groin issue, while Redick is battling back spasms.

Losing Griffin left head coach Doc Rivers without his three leading scorers and his team was eventually blown out 118-104.

Rivers, not surprisingly, was less than pleased with Griffin's ejection. Both calls were, relatively speaking, very weak. Then again, the latter call could have been avoided if Griffin didn't complain - but that would be a divergence from how the Clippers operate.

Thursday's ejection aside, Griffin is enjoying his best season to date with averages of 27.6 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 56.1 percent from the field.
