Happy birthday, Russ: 5 times Westbrook has wowed hoops fans

Mark D. Smith / US PRESSWIRE

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard and nightly highlight-provider Russell Westbrook turned 27 on Thursday.

To celebrate his many on- and off-court offerings, here are five of Westbrook's most memorable moments.

Pistons feel Westbrook's wrath

There's really no stopping the runaway Westbrook Train when it's on the tracks and heading toward Dunkville.

Even noted rim-protector Andre Drummond knows this.

Houston, we have a problem

Flashback to 2010, when Westbrook - then in his third year in the league - introduced the Houston Rockets to his penchant for aerial assaults.

Former teammates James Harden and Jeff Green seemed to approve.

The rim-rattling tour makes a stop in San Antonio

With the 2014 Western Conference finals tied up at 2-2, Westbrook penetrated the historically stingy Spurs defense en route to an angry rack-attack.

TNT commentator Marv Albert's call made this highlight that much more entertaining.

Downing the Dubs

There's nothing like home cooking - especially against Chef Curry and company.

In an instant classic, Westbrook corralled the improbable offensive rebound, retreated to the left corner of the court, and drained the game-winner over the Golden State Warriors in overtime.

This alternate - and ridiculously intimate - camera angle is worth watching as well.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Westbrook is hard to contain on the hardwood; however, he could not escape the TNT crew's razzing for his fashion sense on this occasion.

Or any other occasion, for that matter.
