Timberwolves rest Kevin Garnett vs. Hornets

The Minnesota Timberwolves will be without Kevin Garnett when they take on the Charlotte Hornets, the team announced Tuesday.

Garnett is sitting out due to rest as the Timberwolves are playing on the road as part of the second leg of a back-to-back.

The 21-year veteran was due for some rest after logging over 18 minutes in the team's nail-biting victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday. Garnett was a key force on defense and ranked as a plus-11 to help the upstart Timberwolves to a 4-2 record on the season.

The Big Ticket is averaging 2.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 15.5 minutes per game on the season. While those numbers seem pedestrian, the Timberwolves are 20 points per 100 possessions with him on the floor.

Adreian Payne started in place of Garnett in the only other game that he sat out this season.
