Cavs' J.R. Smith left vs. 76ers with knee injury

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

J.R. Smith of the Cleveland Cavaliers left Monday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers with a right knee contusion, and did not return.

Cavs coach David Blatt said Smith hurt the knee when he locked legs with Nerlens Noel, after only five minutes of play. He added that the team would see how the knee responded overnight and schedule an MRI if necessary.

Smith started all four games this season at the two and has struggled early. The 30-year-old came into Monday shooting under 29 percent from the floor and 14.3 percent from deep, while averaging 6.3 points in 29 minutes.

The Cavs are already severely undermanned in the backcourt without Kyrie Irving and Iman Shumpert.
