Jrue Holiday to start for Pelicans against Blazers

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday will play Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers, a night after sitting out the season opener.

Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said Tuesday that Holiday would be restricted from back-to-back contests to start the season as he comes off a right leg injury that cost him 42 games last season. He also remains on a restriction of 20 minutes per game, according to Gentry.

The shorthanded Pelicans were manhandled 111-95 by the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday. Nate Robinson started at the point and was held scoreless in 19 minutes. Other backcourt components Tyreke Evans and Norris Cole are still out for New Orleans.
