VIDEO: Probably don't ask Kobe Bryant if D'Angelo Russell should start

The Los Angeles Lakers don't start their season until Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but Kobe Bryant's media game is already in midseason form.

The Black Mamba was asked after Tuesday's practice whether rookie D'Angelo Russell has earned a starter role, and it went as well as you'd think.

From Lakers Nation:

Reporter: Has D'Angelo shown enough to be a starter?

Kobe: What kind of question is that?

Reporter: Do you think he should start tomorrow? Do you like what you see from the kid?

Kobe: You should ask Byron. What are you asking me for?

He has a point.

Anyway, after that awkward little exchange, the Lakers veteran said that the main advice he gives Russell is to continue to work.

"That's never a problem for him," Kobe said. "He's been out here shooting for another 45 minutes after practice. Maybe continuing to stay that course would be just fine. My responsibility is just to show him the little intricacies of the game, making the right reads."
