President Barack Obama was in the house for the NBA's season opener between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night, and he's a fan of what his hometown Bulls did in the offseason.
"(New coach Fred Hoiberg) has opened up the offense a bit, the question's going to be whether they can hang onto the defense with the new offense," the 44th president told TNT's David Aldridge.
The longtime Bulls fan was disappointed by the firing of defensive specialist Tom Thibodeau last spring, but appears optimistic about the changes the franchise made going into what will be the final full NBA season of the Obama administration.
Referencing the depth of the Western Conference, Obama said: "I'm glad my Bulls are in the East."
