Gomez Addams is too suave. Uncle Fester is too portly. Cousin Itt? Too hairy. And Thing is, well, just a hand.

Therefore, Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki was wise to choose Lurch as his Addams Family doppelganger for Halloween.

The original Lurch character - who debuted on TV in the 1960s - was portrayed by 6-foot-9 actor Ted Cassidy.

Nowitzki, who stands three inches taller at 7-feet, would have no problem posting up Cassidy for his patented fade-away jumper.

"You rang?"
