Rockets apparently sign 5-foot-6 Aquille Carr

One of the most decorated high school basketball players in recent memory is getting a look at the NBA level.

Aquille Carr tweeted late Wednesday that the Houston Rockets have given him a chance, with the implication being he signed with the team.

A signing this late in camp generally means the team sees the player as a potential D-League affiliate player, and so Carr could be headed to Rio Grande Valley. He may not get an actual preseason look from the Rockets - they have 19 other players under contract, 14 of them on guaranteed deals - but it's a big moment for the 5-foot-6 point guard nonetheless.

A highlight machine during his high school career in Maryland, Carr nearly signed in Italy in 2011 before opting to play his senior high school season across several prep schools. In 2013, he entered the D-League draft, getting selected in the third round, and later went undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft.

Carr averaged 10.7 points and 1.9 assists in 10 D-League games, impressive numbers considering he averaged just 14 minutes. Most recently, Carr played with Saint John of the National Basketball League of Canada, where he averaged 12.9 points and 3.4 assists in 23.3 minutes.
