Howard (suspension) said on a local sports radio show Thursday that he played through a torn MCL and meniscus during last season's playoffs, ESPN reports.

Analysis:

Howard, who was limited to only 41 regular-season contests in 2014-15, was on the floor for most of the playoffs, but it was no secret that he was competing at less than 100 percent. He initially injured the knee during Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, but was diagnosed with only a sprain and went on to finish with 19 points and 17 rebounds in Game 2. Howard played in all five games of the series, posting averages of 14.4 points and 14.4 rebounds. The Rockets center insists that he's at full strength heading into the 2015-16 campaign, though he'll be suspended for the regular-season opener due to an accumulation of technical fouls during the postseason.
