Gilbert Arenas disputes Caron Butler's account of Wizards' gun incident

Gary A. Vasquez-US PRESSWIRE

Gilbert Arenas has a problem with the way former Washington Wizards teammate Caron Butler recalls the events that led to his dispute with Javaris Crittenton in 2009.

Butler, now a member of the Sacramento Kings, wrote about the incident in his memoirs that were released Wednesday, describing the altercation as if two gunslingers were preparing to duel in the Old West.

Always willing to throw in his two cents, "Agent Zero" took to Instagram to set the record straight - at least from his perspective - on what really happened that day, although his post was quickly deleted.

The main difference in the two versions of the story seems to be that Butler believed Arenas owed Crittenton money, while Arenas thinks he was just being the voice of reason in a war of words with Crittenton, JaVale McGee, and Earl Boykins.

Crittenton received a year of probation on a misdemeanor gun possession charge, while Arenas spent 30 days in a halfway house, on top of getting two years of probation. Both were suspended for the remainder of the 2009-10 season.
