Sager Sr. has undergone chemotherapy and received a bone marrow transplant since the leukemia he was initially diagnosed with in April 2014 returned this past March.
The 64-year-old - who vowed to return in time for the start of the 2015-16 season - now seems poised to don his vibrant wardrobe on the sidelines at NBA games once again.
Somewhere, San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is smiling - but just barely.
