The Cleveland Cavaliers reached an agreement with forward Austin Daye on a one-year deal, Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reports.

USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt adds that the deal is a training camp invite, which presumably makes Daye's deal partially unguaranteed.

The 27-year-old Daye split time between the San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks last season, appearing in 34 games in which he averaged 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while shooting 33.8 percent from deep.

Since he was selected 15th overall by the Detroit Pistons in 2009, Daye has failed to make much of a mark in the NBA. His best season came in his sophomore year, when he scored 7.5 points per game while shooting 40.1 percent from beyond the arc.

A stretch-four because he can hit jumpers at 6-foot-11, but he's impossibly slight - weighing only 200 pounds - which makes him a significant liability on defense.

Still, there's little downside in making the move for the Cavaliers, which could use some depth on the wing. The team has an open roster spot up for grabs in addition to 12 guaranteed contracts, an unguaranteed contract for J.R. Smith, and another spot for Tristan Thompson.

If Daye's contract is also unguaranteed, he'll battle Jared Cunningham, D.J. Stephens, Nick Minnerath, and Quinn Cook for the team's 15th spot.
