Analysis:

Valanciunas expanding his range is great, but his biggest impediment to big playing time has been his defense, and in some ways, just being too big and traditional of a frontcourt player. Coach Dwane Casey told NBA.com that the league trend is go small at the end of games and that the Raptors have to match that. There isn't too much to read between the lines there, but it sounds like the Raptors are planning on continuing to play the matchup game again this season and will likely continue to put Valanciunas on the bench at the end of games in order to play a smaller lineup.
