After Suns split Morris twins, Knight wants Markieff to be happy

Phoenix Suns guard Brandon Knight finished the 2014-15 season as a teammate of the Morris twins.

A couple of months later, only one Morris brother remains, with his own status with the team in question.

After Marcus Morris was traded to the Detroit Pistons in July - a move which caught the 25-year-old by surprise - Markieff Morris wasn't shy about voicing his displeasure regarding the departure of his identical twin brother.

Knight's role in this drama in the desert is that of a spectator. While he hopes Markieff can find a level of satisfaction with the Suns, he also acknowledges the reality of the situation.

"If he stays with us, we'd definitely love to have him," Knight said of Markieff. "Great player. I'm looking forward to playing with him. But if not, it's a business. Like I said, I just want Markieff to be happy."

Adding to the tension felt by both twins with respect to how Marcus was dealt to Motown are the ongoing legal proceedings stemming from the aggravated assault charges the two currently face.

Knight - who signed a new contract with the Suns last month - arrived in Phoenix via trade prior to last season's trade deadline. He played in only 11 games after being shut down for the remainder of the 2014-15 campaign due to an ankle injury.

"I'm back to working out and moving around and stuff so I'm just trying to get my legs back up under me so that, by the time the season rolls around, I'll be good," the four-year veteran said Friday regarding his rehab process, according to SiriuXM NBA Radio.

With Knight and backcourt partner Eric Bledsoe running the show next season, it will be interesting to see if Markieff will be around to help lead the Suns back to the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
