Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Atlanta Hawks forward Mike Scott was arrested on felony drug charges Thursday morning in Banks County, Ga., Rob Moore of accessWDUN reports.

According to Moore, Scott was the passenger in a vehicle containing over an ounce of marijuana and approximately 10.9 grams of MDMA. The driver of the vehicle, Scott's younger brother, reportedly ran from authorities when they initially tried to pull him over for following too closely.

Here's more:

Banks County Sheriff's Sgt. Carissa McFaddin said deputies attempted to stop the vehicle after noticing the driver following too close to other vehicles.

"As deputies attempted to make the traffic stop, the driver sped up to 98 mph and failed to stop," McFaddin said. "The driver continued for two miles and finally stopped near mile marker 156."

Scott was charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of a Schedule I drug (MDMA).

Last season, his third in the NBA (all with Atlanta), Scott averaged 7.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in 68 games off the bench, shooting 44.4 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from 3-point range.

The Hawks are aware of the situation, but have no comment at this time, according to Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
