Drake sets Cory Joseph up for greatness, Raptors guard name-dropped in latest track
Good things happen when Drake drops your name in one of his tracks, especially when you're playing for the rapper's hometown Toronto Raptors.
Just ask Lou Williams (now with the Los Angeles Lakers), who had an entire verse written about him for Drake's "6 Man" prior to closing his 2014-15 campaign as the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year.
Coincidence?
Perhaps Cory Joseph - who signed a reported four-year deal worth $30 million with the Raptors this offseason - will experience his own version of Drizzy magic next season.
Drake gave a shoutout to Joseph in a supposed diss track (directed at fellow rapper Meek Mill) called "Charged Up," which the 28-year-old worldwide phenomenon debuted on Saturday.
"We gon' make sure you get your bread and you know the ropes," Drake raps, "I get a ring and I bring it home like I'm Cory Joe."
(Warning, the video contains coarse language)
How does "2015 NBA Most Improved Player Cory Joseph" sound?
Joseph, 24, averaged 6.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists last season with the San Antonio Spurs. With Drake's seal of approval, perhaps the Raptors' new backup point guard will see some hardware of his own in the not-too-distant future.
