Roy Hibbert has officially been traded from the Indiana Pacers to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for a future second-round pick.

"We're happy to add a veteran big man to the roster," Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak said in a team release.

The deal was first reported on Sunday but could not be made official until the moratorium on free agents and trades was lifted. The trade call took place Thursday afternoon. Hibbert opted in to his $15.5-million player option for the 2015-16 season with Indiana, despite the team essentially begging him not to.

Hibbert is among the NBA's top defensive centers, but his offensive game is perceived to be in decline despite numbers that are roughly comparable to his best seasons.
