Hawks officially acquire Tiago Splitter from Spurs

The Tiago Splitter era in San Antonio is over, while the Atlanta Hawks have bolstered an already formidable frontcourt.
The Hawks' acquisition of Splitter, reportedly agreed to on July 1, was made official on Thursday, with the Spurs receiving a protected 2017 second-round draft pick and the draft rights to Georgios Printezis.
Moving Splitter's $8.8-million salary was a key component of the Spurs' ability to lure unrestricted free agent LaMarcus Aldridge with a max contract offer, while also re-signing their own big free agents, like Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green.
Splitter, an efficient finisher and mobile defender, will join All-Stars Al Horford and Paul Millsap in Atlanta to form one of the league's most potent rotation of big men.
The 30-year-old center averaged 8.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in just under 20 minutes per game in 2014-15.
Printezis, a second-round pick of the Spurs in 2007, has yet to make the journey to the NBA. The Greek forward currently plies his trade for Olympiacos Piraeus.
