Jeremy Lin signs reported 2-year, $4-million deal with Hornets

Free agent Jeremy Lin is signing with the Charlotte Hornets, the point guard announced via Instagram on Wednesday night.
The deal was made official on Thursday once the league's signing moratorium was lifted. Lin's deal is for two years and a little over $4 million, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
"We are excited to add Jeremy Lin to our lineup," general manager Rich Cho said in a press release. "He is a talented player who we feel can make significant contributions to our basketball team."
The Hornets will be Lin's fourth NBA stop after a bad fit with the Los Angeles Lakers last season. While the odds are stacked against him that he can ever consistently recreate his brief, star-making run with the New York Knicks in 2012, he's a capable pick-and-roll guard and is effective in the right situations.
Granted, the Hornets won't feature a high-speed, pick-and-roll attack anytime soon with Al Jefferson centering their offense, but Lin's skill set should still fit in nicely. The Hornets relied heavily on Mo Williams (now with the Cavaliers) last season, and Lin brings much of the same abilities.
Lin shot 36.9 percent from deep last season in addition to per-36 averages of 15.7 points and 6.4 assists.
Furthemore, Lin is a strong driver. Last season, Lin averaged 7.1 points on drives per 48 minutes, on par with players like Mike Conley (7.2) and Ty Lawson (6.7). With the ability to play both backcourt positions, Lin can slot in nicely with Kemba Walker in two-point guard lineups.
The Dallas Mavericks were rumored to be interested in Lin's services, but they've now got bigger issues to address.
