Flea wants to represent Lakers at NBA Draft Lottery

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The immediate and long-term future of the Los Angeles Lakers could be on the line at the 2015 NBA Draft Lottery on May 19, and they should enlist any bastions of good luck they can find.

And sure, that can include Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, a longtime Lakers fan who is guaranteeing success in the lottery if he represents the team.

Each lottery team sends a representative to the proceedings, and teams will occasionally tap someone outside of the immediate organization to bring some positive karma. There's evidence that Flea can work magic, too - after he pleaded for Shabazz Muhammad to be freed as a rookie, he quickly found himself getting regular playing time.

The Lakers will need at least a bit of good fortune a month from now. In finishing with the fourth-worst record in the league, the Lakers have an 11.9-percent chance at the No. 1 pick but also a 17.2-percent chance of falling outside of the top five, in which case they would owe their pick to the Philadelphia 76ers (by way of the Phoenix Suns).

The team's chances of finishing in each draft slot are as follows:

Draft Slot Lakers Odds
1 11.9%
2 12.6%
3 13.3%
4 9.9%
5 35.1%
Pick to 76ers 17.2%

Hey, it's either Flea, Kobe Bryant, or, you know, any other celebrity they want.
