Arron Afflalo listed as questionable for Wednesday's Game 2

The Portland Trail Blazers may get some help as they try to rebound from an ugly Game 1 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Injured wing Arron Afflalo is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's Game 2 after missing the season opener - and the final three games of the regular season - with a right shoulder strain.

The Blazers' big trade deadline acquisition was confident Monday that he'll be able to play, but it's unlikely a determination is made until Wednesday's shootaround, at the earliest. There's a good chance Portland waits until close to game time to make an official designation on his status.

Getting Afflalo back would be big for the Blazers, who are also missing Wesley Matthews from their already-thin wing rotation. C.J. McCollum has improved as an offensive player this season but struggled as the starter in Game 1, shooting 1-of-8 from the floor.

Afflalo saw his numbers dip once he arrived in Portland but he remains the team's best option at the two alongside Nicolas Batum. In 25 games with Portland, Afflalo averaged 10.6 points and 2.7 rebounds while knocking down 40 percent of his 3-point attempts. Since 2010, he's averaged 15.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists while hitting 38.1 percent from outside.

The Blazers need the spacing he can provide after shooting 8-of-26 from long range as a team in Game 1, a mark that clogged the lane for Damian Lillard's drives and allowed the Grizzlies to send help on LaMarcus Aldridge at the elbows and on the block. Afflalo won't make for a 14-point swing but following a terrible opening performance, every marginal gain helps.
