Rondo to sit Friday as Mavs visit Nuggets

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Mavericks point guard Rajon Rondo will sit out Friday's game against the Denver Nuggets, and it's not as punishment because he wouldn't let hospitalized children beat him at Connect Four

Rondo is inactive due to rest and as a precaution after he suffered a hyperextended knee last week, Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas reports. Rondo joins forward Chandler Parsons, who is still out with knee swelling, on the sidelines.

The Mavs have clinched seventh in the West - they cannot go higher or lower seeding-wise - and therefore have nothing to look forward to in their last four games other than ensuring their lineup is healthy for the playoffs.
