Minnesota Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic underwent surgery on his right Achilles on Wednesday in Charlotte. The team said the debridement procedure was a success and he will be out indefinitely.
Pekovic, who was ruled out for the rest of the season last week, has had a lost year. The bruising, 6-foot-11, 295-pound center only played in 31 games due to ankle and Achilles issues. He only appeared in 54 games in 2013-14.
In 191 career NBA games, Pekovic has averaged 12.9 points and 6.9 rebounds on 52.1 percent shooting.
