LeBron probable for return to Miami after tweaking knee

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

LeBron James tweaked his right knee in Sunday's win over the Orlando Magic, describing the episode as a frightening moment. He was set to receive treatment before an official call was made on his status for his return to Miami on Monday.

James is considered probable for the Cavaliers' game against the Heat, which would be his second in Miami since going back home to Cleveland as a free agent during the offseason.

The Heat won the first contest 101-91 on Christmas Day.

"It was a scary moment for myself, obviously," James told reporters after Sunday's game. "I couldn't get my foot from up underneath me, and I was able to play through it. Obviously I'll see how I feel (Monday) and go from there. But I haven't (had) one of those falls, I don't know if ever, but in a pretty long time."

James suffered the tweak during the third quarter when he tried to block Dewayne Dedmon's shot on a play at the basket. He landed awkwardly and looked to be in some discomfort, but stayed in the game, finishing with 21 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds to help the Cavaliers win their fourth in a row

The usually indestructible James has already missed a career-high 11 games this season. He sat two straight weeks in late December and into January due to knee and back strains, sending the Cavaliers into a rut. Cleveland has struggled without him, going 2-9 compared to a mark of 41-16 with him in the lineup.

James, averaging 26 points, 7.4 assists and 5.8 rebounds, recently said he hoped to rest a bit down the stretch to freshen up for the playoffs.

The Cavaliers' surge up the standings probably affords the team the opportunity to give the four-time MVP some time off. Cleveland, second in the Eastern Conference, has a three-game lead over the Chicago Bulls in the Central Division.
