Pelicans' Holiday takes part in limited shooting practice on Friday

A return to action could be on the horizon for New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday.

Holiday participated in a few light shooting drills Friday, reports John Reid of NOLA.com. It is the first time Holiday has been able to take to the court since he re-injured a stress reaction injury in his right leg.

"He was just out on the floor with Carlos (Daniels Pelicans director of athletic development), nothing practice oriented or in a practice pace," said Pelicans head coach Monty Williams. "He was just out there shooting a little a bit and bouncing around."

This is undoubtedly fantastic news for the Pelicans, as Holiday has not played since Jan. 12. New Orleans has fared well despite Holiday's injury, as the team is 8-2 over its last 10 and currently holds claim to the eighth playoff seed in the West.

However, the Pelicans' playoff outlook would be significantly rosier with a healthy Holiday in the lineup. Holiday is a fantastic perimeter defender and posted averages of 15.2 points and 7.1 assists per game before succumbing to injury.
