Heat's Dragic hasn't ruled out signing with Lakers in offseason

Goran Dragic got what he wanted at the trade deadline: a move to a new team (with a new front office) where he can be the lead ballhandler and lone starting point guard.

Dragic had a shortlist of teams that fit the bill, among them the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers. He ended up with the Heat, and on Wednesday night, played a big part in knocking off the Lakers, scoring 21 points on just 10 shots in a 100-94 win.

Before he was traded from the Phoenix Suns, Dragic had essentially warned off teams not on his list by saying he'd bolt for either the Lakers or New York Knicks in the offseason, even though the team acquiring him would be able to offer him an extra year and more money thanks to his Bird Rights.

After the game against the Lakers, he was asked whether his thought process has changed. According to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News, Dragic claims that everything is still in play, including the Lakers, who have long coveted him.

"They’re a great organization and have a history of winning," Dragic said of the team currently mired in its worst season in franchise history. "Right now they’re not having a good season. But that could change anytime."

Asked whether he could be the man to help turn the team's fortunes around, Dragic was open but noncommittal.

"It can happen," he said. "But I’m really happy here right now. We’ll see how those things go from here."
