Clippers' Barnes suffers hamstring strain in win over Bulls

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Clippers' win over the Chicago Bulls on Sunday came at an expense.

Small forward Matt Barnes suffered a right hamstring strain and is unlikely to suit up for Monday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, head coach Doc Rivers said.

Barnes was quiet in the victory, scoring six points with four rebounds and a season-high four blocks, but has been a steady contributor for the surging Clippers. The veteran wing has started 55 of 57 games, averaging 9.7 points on 45.5 percent shooting from the field, four rebounds and a career-high 1.6 3-pointers over 29.4 minutes.

Los Angeles, which was powered by DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul to down the undermanned Bulls, has won six of its last eight games and sits fifth in the loaded Western Conference.

Bulls shooting guard Jimmy Butler was also injured in the contest. He hyperextended his left elbow and is slated to undergo an MRI on Monday.
