NBA rescinds technical on Celtics' Isaiah Thomas

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

It's tough to think of a worse way to start things off with a new team than getting ejected from a loss.

That's how the Isaiah Thomas era began with the Boston Celtics on Sunday, with the point guard earning a double-technical foul and subsequent ejection in the fourth quarter. After his dismissal, the Celtics stormed back without him to force overtime against the Los Angeles Lakers, but fell in overtime.

It doesn't get less auspicious than that.

The NBA tried to allay any bad vibes in Boston on Friday by rescinding the second technical foul on Thomas, but that's unlikely to make Thomas or the Celtics feel any better. He still got tossed, he still missed the last 10 minutes of play and the team still lost.

Things have turned around for the team since, with Boston winning its next two games with Thomas in the fold. Over three appearances, Thomas is averaging 20.3 points, four rebounds and 5.7 assists.
