Isaiah Thomas ejected in Celtics debut

That's certainly one way to make a debut.

Isaiah Thomas didn't exactly get his Boston Celtics career off to the most auspicious start on Sunday, getting ejected from the team's game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

After playing a strong 25 minutes off the bench, Thomas picked up a pair of technical fouls with 5:03 to play. The techs came after Thomas refused to cease arguing an offensive foul call, leading to his automatic dismissal from the game.

To that point, Thomas had scored 21 points on 6-of-13 shooting while grabbing five rebounds and dishing three assists. The Celtics were outscored by seven points by the lowly Lakers in his 25 minutes and Thomas also coughed up the ball four times.

That's more or less the book on Thomas, who fills it up in a hurry off the bench but sometimes does so at the expense of a team's overall flow.

The 21 points in 25 minutes is a quick tally even for Thomas, who was averaging a point every 101 seconds with the Phoenix Suns and has averaged a shade more than a point every two minutes for his career. That offensive spark is surely going to be welcome in Boston, even if it didn't help lead to a victory on Sunday.
