VIDEO: Derrick Rose's emotional Powerade commercial
With all that Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has suffered through, there isn't a fan or player alive that isn't rooting for a successful comeback.
Rose has always fought and won against all odds. He escaped a Dickensian childhood to become the prodigal son that revived Chicago's post-Jordan legacy. He beat out LeBron James at the age of 22 to capture the most valuable player award. He has fought through two major knee injuries over two years and returned each time, however haphazardly.
Can Rose beat the odds a third time and return from yet another knee injury? Maybe not.
But damned if Rose won't try. And if Rose is to be remembered for anything when it's all said and done, let his narrative not read about a prodigal talent whose career was cruelly undercut by injuries. Let it be for his determination and sheer will to fight back against his upbringing, against injuries against all odds.
Come back, Derrick. Everyone is rooting for you.
