San Antonio Spurs (34-22) at Portland Trail Blazers (36-19), 10:30 p.m. (ET)

(SportsNetwork.com) - Both the San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers are mired in losing streaks, but something's got to give Wednesday night when the two Western Conference powerhouses collide at the Moda Center.

The Spurs have dropped three in a row during their Rodeo road trip, which only has two stops left after Wednesday. This odyssey began long before the All- Star break and the Spurs are 2-4 so far. They'll visit Sacramento and Phoenix before returning home for six straight.

The Blazers have lost two in a row, one in Utah and another at home to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Both squads have fallen in the ultra-tough Western Conference standings. Portland has dipped outside the top four, which guarantees homecourt advantage in the first round. San Antonio is just 2 1/2 games ahead of the scorching-hot Oklahoma City Thunder for the seventh seed.

The Spurs dropped all three games since the break. They lost a tough one to the Los Angeles Clippers, fell by double-digits to the Golden State Warriors, then suffered a nine-point setback Monday to the Utah Jazz.

San Antonio fell, 90-81.

Tim Duncan's 14-point, 10-rebound double-double led the way in the Spurs' loss. Boris Diaw chipped in 13 off the bench and Corey Joseph scored 10 for the second unit.

Utah forced 22 turnovers, more than eight over San Antonio's average.

"They played unselfishly. They believe in each other. I thought they were tremendous, it was fun to watch," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said of his opponent.

The Blazers, who lost to the Grizzlies without All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge because of a right thumb sprain, fell to Memphis, 98-92, on Sunday.

Damian Lillard chipped in 18 points to lead the hosts and Nicolas Batum posted 17 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the loss. Steve Blake had 13 of 4- for-4 shooting from long range and Meyers Leonard, who started in place of Aldridge, added 11.

The Blazers had their four-game home winning streak snapped.

Kosta Koufos and Marc Gasol each scored four points during a 12-0 surge that pushed the Grizzlies ahead, 87-85, with 4:14 on the clock. Batum then fired in a 3- pointer moments later to move the Blazers in front by one with under three to play.

Courtney Lee responded, however, with a three-point play and Memphis locked down on defense down the stretch. Mike Conley worked a pick-and-roll with Gasol, who finished the play with an elbow jumper for a 94-90 lead with 30 seconds left. Blake was stuffed by Conley at the other end before Lee dropped in a pair of free throws which essentially sealed the outcome.

The Blazers will get a lift after that tough loss as Aldridge indicated he will play versus the Spurs.

"I practiced the last couple days," Aldridge said after practice Tuesday. "I did some stuff yesterday, did some things together. It feels better so I'll be out there tomorrow."

The Blazers have won two of three this season against the Spurs, who eliminated Portland in the second round of last season's playoffs.
