After securing a buyout to escape the New York Knicks, Amar'e Stoudemire will return once more to the Western Conference.

Stoudemire has committed to signing with the Dallas Mavericks, reports Shams Charania of RealGM.

The Knicks officially secured a buyout with Stoudemire after the 32-year-old agreed to forfeit $2 million of the $23 million owed to him. Stoudemire was reportedly sought by the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers and the Phoenix Suns.

Although Stoudemire has lost most of his once bountiful athleticism, he's remained a decent scorer, both out of the pick-and-roll and on the block. He averaged 12 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting 54.3 percent from the field this season.

Bringing in Stoudemire helps the Mavericks secure a modicum of depth in the frontcourt. Dallas has struggled to find a consistent third big off the bench after dealing away center Brandan Wright in a deal to acquire point guard Rajon Rondo. Stoudemire alleviates Dallas's precarious reliance on unreliable options in rookie Dwight Powell and veteran Charlie Villanueva.

Assuming Stoudemire agrees to sign at the veteran's minimum, the Mavericks will pay Stoudemire just under half a million this season. The Mavericks will make an official announcement once Stoudemire clears waivers on Wednesday afternoon.
