Gasol brothers reflect on 'very special' All-Star moment

Russell Westbrook took home MVP honors and LeBron James inched closer to another milestone, but for many, the feel-good story of Sunday's All-Star Game was seeing Pau and Marc Gasol on the court together.

They became the first pair of brothers to ever start an All-Star Game, and both seemed to have an appreciation for the moment.

"It was a great feeling," Pau said after the game, as reported by ESPN's Nick Friedell. "Very unique, very special. It's something that has never happened, so I think it's pretty remarkable that we have been the first ones to actually do it. I'm very proud. It was an incredible experience to be able to share this time of moment with your brother."

The elder Gasol brother, who finished his fifth All-Star showcase with 10 points and 12 rebounds, said he hopes he and Marc's feat can influence others.

"I think this is a great, hopefully inspiring, thing, also for brothers that (think), 'Hey, we can make it, too, or we can have a successful career,' whether it's in the (basketball) profession or other professions," Pau said. "It's exciting. It's exciting to be able to go through this experience at this level."

Marc, meanwhile, finished with six points and 10 rebounds in his second All-Star appearance.

"Just seeing so many people happy and so many people supporting us," Marc said of the reaction to he and Pau's rare accomplishment. "My daughter came for the first time to a game. To me, that was really special. I know you guys probably don't care, but that made it even more special, if possible."
